Week 3 offseason update

Published on 13 July 2025 at 17:40

A week in the NBA’s offseason offered some rookie contract extensions, along with the beginning of Summer League in Las Vegas.

Summer League is here! More of the more exciting events of the summer are here as the NBA summer league in Las Vegas has begun this past week. While I won’t do any breakdowns here about what’s happening in the Summer League, I still find it very fun to watch.

Fans should also learn by the two rules I have for the summer league here: they are:

Rule 1: If a draft prospect or 2nd-year guy plays poorly, it means very little. These are glorified AAU games, and while seeing a draft prospect play poorly may give a team’s fan anxiety about what’s to come for their career, remember it doesn’t mean anything in all honesty.

Rule 2: If a draft prospect plays well, is equally doesn’t mean much. While it’s nice to see these guys play well, these are not the rosters they play with for the majority of their NBA career, and these guys are also trying to get teams to look at them and get an NBA contract.

SO, if you’ve figured it out, I don’t take much from Summer League and while people claim you can tell how successful a player will be because of it, they are lying, but it is still super fun to watch top guys go against each other and compete in a NBA style game.
